The Language Department offers additional support for students through Language Clubs in:
The clubs provide opportunities for students to revise and extend language learning in fun, interactive ways.
Club Hebdo (translation: club weekly) is a French club for lower school French learners held every Wednesday afternoon from 3-4pm. It is run by Year 12 French students, who conduct a wide range of fun activities that incorporate the French language and culture including such activities as musical chairs using French pop music, bingo games of colours and numbers, treasure hunts and role-plays. Emphasis is also placed on the viewing of French movies, and of course food. Every now and then the Year 12s bring in snacks such as croissants and doughnuts.
Club Venn continues this semester and is an after school revision and extension club for students learning Japanese at Willetton. It is run by past students who successfully completed Year 12 ATAR Japanese and are continuing Japanese at university. Students are able to bring along homework, assignments and questions in order to achieve the best that they can in class. There are also fun cultural activities to support the various class topics.
Students are welcome to attend every week, or just drop in when they want to. Each year group is provided with a separate group leader to provide targeted support.
Year 7, 8, 9 and 12: Fridays in LANG8
Year 10 and 11: Wednesdays in LANG8
Club Vespa is an after-school revision and extension club for students learning Italian at Willetton. It is run by senior school students studying ATAR Italian and native speaker assistants who are currently working alongside teachers at the school. Students are encouraged to bring along homework, assignments and questions in order to support their language learning and enhance their achievement in class. There are also fun cultural activities for students to enjoy.
Club Vespa is held every Thursday in LANG5 from 2:45-3:45pm. Students are invited to attend every week or can simply drop in when they wish.
After school activities for students learning Korean will run every Tuesday and Thursday. Students are able to bring along homework, assignments and questions in order to improve their grades or brush up their Korean language skills.
All students are welcome to attend every week or just drop in from 3pm to 4pm.
