Our School Crest

Willetton High School opened in 1977 – one of the first flexible area secondary schools established in Western Australia. The buildings were based on sub-school rather than faculty lines and the teaching areas on the open space concept.

In 1980, the school acquired Senior High School status with the first intake of Year 11 students. Buildings gradually changed to faculty orientated at the behest of both teachers and students.

The philosophy then, as now, recognised that students are individuals, each with special interests, abilities and aptitudes and that it is the role of the school to provide tailored programs and activities ensure a quality education for all.

The original school logo is shown below.

In 1987, a new school crest was designed with input from parents, staff and students which was felt to better encompasses our Willo Way.

The central focus of the crest is the torch surmounted by a living flame. The torch is a powerful symbol for light, civilisation, youth and leadership. It stands for the ideal of excellence and growth in personal effort, intellectual evolution and achievement from generation to generation.

The twin ribbons surrounding and protecting the torch represent community and school working in tandem guiding, supporting and inspiring our students to be their very best selves.
