Technology, web-based tools and resources have significantly changed the landscape of learning in the past decade. We now have at our fingertips unlimited access to digital content, resources and expertise. Many teachers integrate technology extensively in their programs and adopt approaches and provide opportunities previously not possible. Teachers aim not only to deepen student learning, but also to develop digital literacy, fluency and citizenship that prepares students for the world in which they will live, learn and work.
To ensure access to digital resources and innovative teaching and learning, Willetton SHS has adopted Bring Your Own Device model. This means students are requested to bring a personally owned laptop (not iPad) to school for the purpose of enhancing their learning experience.

From 2019 Willetton Senior High School strongly recommends students bring a stylus/pen enabled laptop. The stylus allows students to annotate and highlight electronic documents, take notes digitally while maintaining hand writing skills, and create, diagrams, illustrations and art work. The use of the pen can be achieved by using a 2-in-1 laptop which has a touch screen or by combining a traditional laptop with a graphic tablet. The 2-in-1 solution has the advantage of being a single integrated device. For those who already have a laptop or strongly prefer a non-touch screen laptop, the Wacom Bluetooth graphic tablet may be worth considering.
Several recommendations are available for your convenience through the Winthrop portal below. Willetton has organised device bundles with Winthrop Australia that offer support advantages, with the device collected from the school if it needs servicing. Regardless of where the device is purchased, we strongly recommend you consider an optional warranty and case (depending on your insurance cover) to provide additional security in case of drops or spills.
The device needs to meet the following requirements;
