Specialist Basketball

With a long and successful history spanning 30+ years, the Willetton Senior High School Specialist Basketball Program has proven itself to be the best in the state with positions being highly sought after and entry competitive. The program has been instrumental in fostering basketball opportunities for talented players and developing positive and respected role models in the community.

Our mission is to equip students with the necessary skills and attributes to become highly valued contributors in any basketball program and to grow into successful and respected community members. Leadership, resilience, goal setting, mindfulness, team work, communication and a high work ethic are the qualities that students are encouraged and supported to develop.

The Willetton Senior High School gymnasium has been equipped with large screen and camera technology to support student learning allied with the use of class Ipads for peer teaching and learning. The addition of the new Dr Dish shooting machine has also enhanced the opportunity for students to develop their shooting technique and consistency.

Many of our students have achieved personal success through their time in the Basketball Specialist Program:

  • Australian representatives at both senior and junior level.
  • WNBL and NBL players
  • Centre of Excellence and NBA Academy scholarship holders
  •  Australian Development Squad athletes
  • US College representatives
  • State team representatives
  • State Performance Program, Future Development Program and Southern Cross Challenge athletes
  • WSBL and SBL representatives.

Other career paths such as coaching, refereeing and administration are promoted
