Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in schools enables students to gain nationally recognised qualifications and industry skills whilst completing their secondary education. VET is taken as part of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and contributes significantly towards WACE achievement. A VET qualification provides students with essential skills which are transferable across multiple employment and education pathways. All Year 11 and 12 students may choose to complete a recognised qualification at a Certificate II level or higher at school as part of their senior school selection.

Endorsed Programs

An endorsed program is a significant learning program that has been developed by a school, community organisation or private provider, and endorsed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) for students in Years 10, 11 and 12. These programs offer a range of activities not covered by traditional school courses or Vocational Education and Training. Achievement of endorsed programs can contribute to the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirements and will be reported on the student’s Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA). To view the complete list of endorsed programs, go to https://senior-secondary.scsa.wa.edu.au/syllabus-and-support-materials/endorsed-programs

Students who have completed endorsed program can have this program recorded and credited towards their WACE by seeing Mrs Holland or Miss Pyke in the downstairs VET Office. Students will need to provide a copy of a statement of attainment, qualification, academic transcript, certificate or award as evidence of achievement.
